About Tasty Pixel

Tasty Pixel started life in 2008 as a space to promote photographic art. Without much warning the project morphed into a concept range of designer cushions, expressing their desire to be conversation starters in holiday homes, resorts and contemporary city apartments. Founded by Sheena McKinnon, a Kiwi living in Melbourne, each print is inspired by the patterns, colours and textures found in the coastal, forest and garden settings of Australia and New Zealand.

Natural elements are an important influence within our daily living spaces, and many interior stylists incorporate references from the natural word into their designs through colour, form and texture. The Tasty Pixel range of homewares and gifts enables you to choose these elements yourself and add natural accents to enhance the design of your living space.

Our aim is to locally source as much of the materials and manufacturing as possible to reduce carbon mileage and help keep jobs local. Our printing process was chosen because it uses environmentally friendly water based dyes, and avoids the consumption of large amounts of water, such as that which occurs in the traditional screen printing process. The result is a vibrant print that lasts the life of the material.

Each Tasty Pixel product is handmade by Sheena and printed in Australia, using images photographed by her from various locations around Australia and New Zealand. Sheena’s vision is to create a range of everyday lifestyle products that raise the appreciation of nature and even create a desire to protect and sustain natural environments.
